Starting October 2025, the Devcom Developer Conference will be known as Gamecom Dev. This change, announced on August 19, 2025, at the conference’s Keynote Stage, “firmly integrates the event into the Gamescom brand family and strengthens its presence in the international gaming industry,” according to a press release.

Stephan Reichart, managing director of game events GmbH and organizer of the conference, expressed enthusiasm: “I am delighted about Devcom’s upgraded positioning and its inclusion among the key Gamescom sub-brands. We’ve had an incredible, exciting, and sometimes challenging journey with Devcom. From the beginning, people have asked, ‘So you’re the game developer side of Gamescom?’ That’s why we added the subtitle, ‘The official game developer conference of Gamescom.’ Now, it’s clear: everything related to developer content is at Gamescom Dev.”

Devcom Developer Conference, established in 2017, is the official developer conference of Gamescom and is organized by game events GmbH, a subsidiary of the German Games Industry Association (game). The main event is held in Cologne, Germany, with this year’s conference scheduled from August 17 to August 19, just before Gamescom officially opens on August 20. The conference features panel discussions, talks, keynotes, fireside chats, roundtables, and workshops on various topics like community management, game design, and mental health. AI is a significant theme this year, as a pre-event survey showed “mixed attitudes” among speakers towards the technology.

From August 20 to August 22, following the main conference, a Devcom booth will be present in Gamescom’s B2B area. Felix Falk, managing director of game and co-organizer of Gamescom, highlighted the conference’s growth: “The Devcom Developer Conference has rapidly become one of the world’s most important events for game developers. It is a key pillar of the Gamescom family. By renaming it Gamescom Dev, we aim to create greater synergies with other Gamescom formats and explore new opportunities through closer integration with the Gamescom brand. This will elevate our success story to the next level.”
